Abstract
Palaeoclimate is part of a larger problem of understanding the origins of coal in different geological periods and palaeogeographic setting,as well as the formation of models of ancient coal-forming environment.Based on the analyses of main literatures contributed to it in past two decades,a brief review on development and limitation of substitute parameters for palaeoclimate reconstruction, which include lithological and sedimentary, geochemical as well as palaeobotanical ones,is given in this paper.Numerous simulation technique using general circulation model (GCM) and Fujita-Ziegler model to retrodicting global palaeoclimate is also commented here.
