Application of diamond enhanced tungsten carbide composite button to gravel formation

  • The developed diamond enhanced tungsten carbide composite button bit has the advantages of diamond,such as high wear-resistance and hardness and high strength and toughness against impact.The super-hard part of the button can cut rock like impregnated diamond bit.Field drilling tests show that the composite button bit has better drilling indexes,comparing with the common bit,its drill footage per run improves more than 1 time,drilling efficiency is 1.5 times, average service life is 2.5 times of the carbide-insert drill, while drilling cost per meter can decrease 35%.
