  • Based on the former researcher's investigations, the authors educe the equation of the stress due to a distributed load over rectangular area. Using the model of hyperbolic curve to describe the characteristic of soil mass's deformation,a calculating settlement method considering soil anisotropy is developed in this paper. The analysis of an actual example shows that the effect of the soil anisotropy on calculated settlement is obvious.
