STUDY OF BIOSTRATIGRAPHIC CORRELATION OF THE LATE PERMIAN COAL SEAMS IN GUIZHOU AND GUANGXI PROVINCE

Based on the data from the Wenjiangsi Section in Guiding,Guizhou, the Matan Section in Heshan and the Penglaitan Section in Laibin,Guangxi,the present paper mainly deals with the correlation of the Late Permian coal seams in these localities from the biostratigraphic viewpoint. It is found that the coal seams in the lower Wujiapingian in these localities were formed by the earliest transgression in the Late Permian after the Dongwu Movement and the coal seams in the upper part of the Changxing Formation in Guiding approximately correspond to the Coal Seam-I or K in the Heshan Section, whereas the other coal seams in these localities are only resulted from the relatively partial rise of the sedimentary bases.
