Present motion character of main fault zones in North China

  • After study of present motion character of main fault zones in North China by GPS observation data within the Euro-Asia frame from 1999 to 2001 that provided by China Crust Network Observation Center, it is found that the fault zones with NE strike are translated compression into extension and their right-lateral sliding velocities increase from north to south, the fault zones with NW strike are of left-lateral compression deformations and their sliding velocities are larger than that of the fault zones with NE strike. Therefore,it is believed that the advantaged areas of coalbed gas exploitation in North China are located in its south region.
