Analysis on transverse thermal difference of embankment in permafrost region

After analyzing the test and calculated data,it is pointed that obvious transverse thermal difference occurs in the frozen-soil embankment,and the transverse thermal difference is resulted from the transverse difference of the external factors and the surface material properties.Then the heat absorbing difference between the sunny slope and the shady slope of the embankment is proved into,it is indicated that the thickness of frozen soil under shady slope is greater than sunny slope. The paper suggests that transverse difference of external factors should be fully taken into consideration in engineering design.
