  • In seismic exploration of mountainous areas, the severely rugged terrain not only influences the traveling time of seismic wave seriously, but also results in big offsets between Common-Reflection-Points and Common-Mid-Points in horizontal stacking, which does great harm to stacking accuracy. To solve this problem,a new static correction method named space-time correction is developed, which is based on the principle of geometric seismology. It deduces the propagation path of seismic wave in subsurface layers.Applies space correction to sources and receivers to the elevation datum and then takes the Common-Mid-Point gathers. After that, applies time correction to the seismic waves along its ray path.By field seismic data processing and comparison with other static correction methods,it shows a good effect and provides a new method of static correction for seismic data processing in mountainous areas.
