A PRELIMINARY STUDY ON THE THRUST AND FOLD BELT OF THE XUZHOU REGION

  • The geometric characters of the structure of the Xuzhou region is studied in this paper. And it is put forword that the structure of the reserch area is a NW-verging thrust and fold belt of the thin-skinned tectonics type. There are characters of disparting zones in E-W direction and segments in S-N direction. There are eastern detachment zone, frontal zone and out-edge zone in E-W direction. These characters indicate the ori entation for the coal survey. Formation of close inbricate thrusts and folds of the frontal zone relates to northwestern moving of the wedge terrance of the sinian carbonatite stratum along a sole datachment zone. The Xuzhou thrust and fold belt were formed by associated effect of compressive stress and gravity related to the action of the Tanchen-Lujiang fault zone during the Indo-China and Early Yanshanian Movements.
