  • This paper gives the monitoring results of displacement and the monitoring method of constructing deformation on a tunnel surrounding rock, which is located in Changyang County,Hubei Province. There are some positive role to direct the construction and design. It is feasible for anchoring and grouting as a permanent retain of integrated limestone section of the tunnel. It is also available for anchoring and grouting as a temporary(not a permanent) retain of shale when construction on it.The finite element method is used to back calculate the average elastic modulus of the rock mass by the results of monitoring displacement:ERL=5.2×104 kg/cm2,E RS=1.4×104 kg/cm2.The reliance of this results is also analyzed in this paper. It is feasible for back calculation of the elastic modulus to design in practice.
