THE LATE-PERMIAN FUSULINIDS IN SOUTH HUBEI

  • The late-Permian strata were developed in Puqi,Tongshan,Chongyang and some other areas in the south of Hubei Province, bearing 9 genera with 40 species,of which there were 8 new species and 7 undefined species. According to their position in the strata, they can be divided into two zones and two subzones,i. e. Codonofusiella zone in Wujiaping Stage and Palaeofusulina zone in Changxing Stage, the latter is subdivided into Palaeofusulina-Reichelina subzone in the lower and Nankinella-Staffella subzone in the upper of the stage. The mixed assemblage of Codonofusiella and Palaeofusulina a phenomenon only found in the lower of Changxing stage. The fossils which represented the top horizong of Changxing Stage in the region were not Palaeofusulina, but the newly-defined Nankinella-Staffella assemblage. The auther thinks that it would be difficult to take the Palaeofusulina as marker fossils for the boundary between the Permian and Triassic in all south China.
