Evaluation of coalbed gas exploration target in Erlian basin

Erlian basin is a large-scale continental-facies sedimentation basin with coal and oil,formed of many small Early Cretaceous lake depressions,contains abundant coalbed gas resources.In order to find out distribution characteristics and exploration prospect of coalbed gas in Erlian basin,firstly,this paper researches coalbed gas forming-pool condition by analyzing regional geological background,feature of accumulating coalbed and so on,and selects 11 favorable depressions for coalbed gas exploration based on analyzing and contrasting all depression's coalbed gas geological condition;secondly,confirmes that Baiyinhua depression has splendiferous condition of coalbed gas enriching and forming-pool by researching coalbed thickness and depth,coal rock characteristics,reservoir properties,coalbed gas protecting condition and resource.Furthermore,authors point out that the east of Baiyinhua depression is favourable target for coalbed gas exploration in future with thick coal seams of extensive distribution,moderate depth,widespread gas display and good protecting-condition.
