Evaluation of groundwater resource potential based on GIS

The groundwater resource potential is an important basis for carrying out planning of groundwater resource development and utilization.Based on space database of groundwater resource,adopting the modulus index of groundwater resource,utilizing GIS space analytical method,the paper designs and develops software for groundwater resource potential evaluation model.The software can produce groundwater resource potential subarea map by evaluation index value.Application in shallow layer ground-water resource evaluation for low reaches of the Yellow River shows that it can help professional personnel to analyse and evaluate groundwater resource potential.
