China coalbed gas technically recoverable resource potential

  • The calculated results of coalbed gas resources in place and technically recoverable resources are important for government to design coalbed gas development strategy and can service as consideration basis for gas development related departments and institutions.Therefore the data of gas in place resources and technically recoverable resources are of great significance for China coalbed gas development.In this paper the lignite resources are calculated,supplementing this item of resources,which is lack for a long time in coalbed gas resources calculation.In China the total continental coalbed gas in place(GIP) at depth shallower than 2 000 m is as much as 32.86×1012 m3,from that in the area where lignite widely distributed the resources are about 1.40 ×1012 m3,but in the area where without lignite the resources are as much as 31.46×1012 m3.Based on established assessment system of coalbed gas technically recoverable resources and considering the current technical measures for gas development the China recoverable coalbed gas resources are as much as 13.90×1012 m3,being 42% of total coalbed gas resources in place.
