  • The measuring results of box counting dimension method of the fractures in Ⅵ16-17coal of No.5 Mine,Pingdingshan,show that the fractal dimensions range from 1.0 to 1.3,and the shorter the distanec to the fault,the greater the fractal dimension.Therefore,the fault can be predicted quantitatively.Finally,the possibility for application of the fractal dimension to the coallbed methane reservoir assessment is discussed.
