Discovery of Tyrmia from Lower Cretaceous Chengzihe Formation in Jixi coal-bearing basin of Heilongjiang, China

  • A Bennettitalean plant Tyrmia is found from the Lower Cretaceous Chengzihe Formation in Jixi coal-bearing basin of Heilongjiang,China,by the authors recently.The paper briefly introduces the current status of research on the genus Tyrmia in classification.Based on the gross morphological and cuticular study of the new material,a new species of Tyrmia is recognized and named Tyrmia jixiensis sp.nov.The new species is significant for the paleoclimatal and paleoenvironmental study of the Jixi coal-bearing basin of Heilongjiang during the Early Cretaceous.
