APPLICATION OF COHERENCE CUBE TECHNIQUE IN THE 3-D SEISMIC SURVEY OF COAL FIELD

  • The coherence cube technique is an interpretation processing technique,which is used to describe the fault and stratigraphic characteristics.Its basic principle is that in the 3-D seismic data volume after offset the coherence values of every sample point in every channel with its surrounding dats are found,thus,the 3-D data volume which indicates the coherence of seismic data (coherence cube for short)is obtained.The stratigraphic discontinuity appears as a low coherence value in the coherence cube.The low coherence value in the coherence cube is reflected by the coherent time slice and coherent bed flattening slice.The application examples indicate that the coherence cube technique is more visual and faster than the conventional interpretation method in the aspects such as interpreting the small faults with the throw about 3m,analyzing the plane distribution of fault,quickening the interpretation speed of larger fault,detecting the roadway and delimiting the boundary of worked out area and so on.
