Effect of pollutant treatment of mine water in mine and on the surface

  • In order to remove pollutants from underground mine water, a united water treatment process in mine and on the surface was established. The process included mine goaf treatment, conventional treatment and advanced treatment. The treatment results showed that some indexes (e.g., Cl-, SO42- and Fe) of mine water exceeded the Quality Standard for Groundwater (GB/T 14848-93), and Cl- and SO42- in some water samples was of fifth class. The concentration of dissolved organic matter (DOM) was low, and organic matters of large molecules and aromatic compounds were predominant. In goaf, Fillings of broken roof rocks were mainly used to to adsorb and remove suspended matter, and iron and organic matter also was removed partly. The removal rates of Fe, TOC and UV254 were 20%, 67.45% and 65.40% respectively. The removal rate of F- was 11.90%~35.21% with conventional treatment process, while the ferrous and manganese ions were completely removed. In the front aerobic precipitation pond the content of nitrate and organic matter increased slightly, the increased organic matter was mainly soluble microbial product. The advanced treatment process had were good removal efficiency for conventional ions, nitrate, fluoride and organic matter with removal rate of above 95%. As a whole, based on the removal of suspended matter and some pollutants by mine goaf and conventional treatment processes, the advanced treatment process could remove most pollutants. The processes consisting of mine goaf treatment, conventional treatment process and advanced treatment process were an effective combination of treatment technologies for mine water.
