Abstract
The Carboniferous and Permian palynological assemblages were studied by using core data in Pengzhuang mine. According to the vertical distributions and abundance variation of miospore species in the strata, four palynological assemblages were recognized in ascending order, viz. Taiyuan formation:Laevigatosporites perminutusGranulatisporites granulatus; Shanxi formation:Gulisporites cochlearius-Leiotriletes adnatus-Sinulatisporites sinensis; Shihezi formation:I Apiculatisporites aculeatus-Gulisporites laevigatus-Macrotorispora minuta (Lower Shihezi Formation), II Patellisporites meishanensis-Sinulatisporites sinensis-Florinites antiquus (Upper Shihezi Formation). Based on lithological features of the Carboniferous and Permian deposits in Pengzhuang mine, the coal-forming environments of that time, which is important for exploitation of coal resources, was reconstructed preliminarily. The coal forming environment in Pengzhuang mine is marine-terrigenous facies in Taiyuan Formation. From Shanxi Formation upward, coal-forming environment started to become transition facies composed mainly of delta plain.
