Research and application of post-stack seismic attributes in recognizing shale gas reservoir fracture

  • Shale gas reservoir has the characteristics of low porosity, low permeability and so on, gas exists in fractures, pores and organic matter of shale and interbedded sandstone. To some extent the fractures determine the quality and yield of shale gas deposit. It is hard to recognize and predict fractures because of the complexity of fractures development, and using seismic data to identify fractures is also difficult. This paper takes the southeast of Chongqing as an example, recognizes and predicts the fractures of shale gas reservoir using post stack seismic attributes, and compares with the characteristics of regional fracture, core identification and FMI logging interpretation results. We consider that the post stack seismic attributes have better effect and advantage in recognizing shale gas reservoir fractures.
