Application of 2D seismic exploration technology in pre-investigation of Xinjiang Zhundong coalfield

  • In the pre-investigation in Xinjiang Zhundong coalfield, 2D seismic exploration technology, such as forward modeling and wave impedance inversion, was used to explain complex seam macro-structure and predict coal seam thickness. The accuracy of the estimation of coal resources has been significantly improved because of using combination of drilling and seismic data. The difference is only 3% between the estimation and the cumulative reserves of the final exploration. The prediction results have been fully affirmed by the Ministry of Land and Mineral Resources.The results have resulted in the application of the integrated exploration technology in the investigation of coal resources in Xinjiang.
