Deformation characteristics of different scale of coal in Zhongliangshan southern mine

  • Observation of different scale and comprehensive analysis are basic methods for coal deformation research. Examination of coal seams, hand specimens and micro-scale samples reveals the characteristics of coal deformation in Zhongliangshan southern mine. The results show that the regional fold is the controlling geological factor that affects the thickness variation of coal seam in the mine, and reverse fault has made the thickness of local coal seam increase. The tectonic coal has similar features in macro-and micro-scale. With the increased deformation the density of fractures increases, the size becomes small and the coal strength decreases. The special striated texture of the fractures of cataclastic coal may be resulted from static shear fracturing, while the great amount of friction face of the scaled coal is the product of the dynamic shear deformation of coal.
