Application of balanced section technique in structural interpretation of middle Longmen mountains

  • The extreme topographic conditions and complex structures of Longmen mountains thrust belts hold back the process of oil resources exploration. In order to insight into the structural styles of thrust belts in Longmen mountains and verify the scheme of structural interpretation, the balanced-section technique has been used in the build-up of the interpretational model with the typical seismological and geological characteristics in middle Longmen mountains based on the data of surface geology, seismic and wells, which also can analyze the tectonic process quantitatively and verify the justifiability of structure interpretation. The result of example analysis proves that the balanced section technique can correctly guide the interpretation scheme of complexly deformed area in middle Longmen mountains thrust belt, and can quantitatively analyze the stage and degree of tectonic deformation, the result can supply faithful foundation for further exploration.
