Distinguishing the sources of water inrush in Sangshuping coal mine by hydrochemical characteristics

  • Finding the water source timely and accurately is the key for solving water bursting problem in mine. The water quality analysis of water samples in groundwater aquifer in a mining area was conducted. The hydrochemical characteristics of different groundwater aquifers were analyzed using the trilinear chart of Piper. Through comparison of the water bursting place and the hydrogeochemical characteristics, the results indicated that the source of water bursting in mine is Ordovician limestone karst water. The hydrochemical characteristics analysis is a quick method for identification of the source of water bursting.
