Experimental study on the relationships of coal gas and seismic attributes

  • Many tracing experiments were made with the system designed in the linear direction of the middle of tunnel by using mine seismic prediction method and three-component sensors & artificial hammering hypocenter.Thirteen apparent velocities of P-wave and S-wave of 30 meters coal in front of the driving head were gained by picking up first break in 13 coal roadways.Other parameters of seismic attributes such as P-wave and S-wave velocity ratio and Poisson's ratio were figured out based on the velocity data.And the congruent relationships of the coal-gas features and the apparent velocity of P-wave and S-wave & Poisson's ratio were achieved by the parameters of seismic attributes and the corresponding gas test parameters of each tunnel.It indicates that there is some good relevance between the content of gas and the apparent velocity of P-wave and S-wave.The linear relations between them based on the gas data were gained.The research results can be expected to provide a new idea and way that should be used to predict the risk of the coal and gas bursting.
