Cuttings discharge mechanism of spiral rod in horizontal auger drilling

Abstract
In order to study the cuttings discharge mechanism of rod in auger drilling in soft coal seams, the paper studied cutting discharge of auger rod through experiment on similar model to macroscopically understand the movement patterns of coal particles under action of auger rod, to theoretically find out their transport speed, and to verify the influence of dynamic and structural parameters of auger rod on amount of discharged cuttings through experiment. Experiment indicated that in the case that the outer diameter, rotation speed and drilling speed are the same, the pitch and the size of rod influence greatly the amount of discharged cuttings, and auger rod can discharge well cuttings when it rotates at suitable speed.
