  • A method combining the limit equilibrium method with the elastoplastic finite element method(FEM) is proposed to analyze the slope stability problems. Firstly the finite element anlysis was used to obtain the overall stress field of a slope, and then on the basis of this, the limit equilibrium method was used to obtain the stability factors.This method not only reflects the slope stability and deformation, but also overcome the deficiencies between the limit equilibrium method and the finite element method, the advantages of the two methods are complemented to each other, the stability factors are based on limit equilibrium theory, and able to roll to the traditional stability factor evaluation system. Yu Wang Bian cutted slope in Xi'an Yanta District was taken as example, by the coupled analysis of the stability analysis, the stability factors obtained from the methods were compared with a variety of limit equilibrium method, the results prove that the coupled analysis method is reliable and feasible.
