The hazards of coal refuse piles and their ecological reconstruction

  • Long time mining activities accumulate great amount of coal refuse which formes piles and becomes the main factor for environmental pollution and degradation in coal mining area. The hazards resulting from coal refuse piles in mining area include mainly induced fire, destroied landscape, polluted environments and geological hazards etc.The paper proposed measures for ecological reconstruction of vegetation to control coal refuse piles. The main tehcnical means include analysis of land-building conditions, transform of hilly area, matrix improvement, selection and culture of plant types.Stable ecological vegetation system can be finally realized in coal refuse piles through rational planning and design.
