Abstract: For a long time,a large number of geological prospecting data is produced;therefore the sharing plat-form is established for managing and sharing the geological prospecting data.This paper discussed the status and the sharing of geographic metadata and the advantages and shortcomings of using XML file storage and database storage,including the adoption of XML technology of geographic metadata designed to solve the coal fields of geological data;Based on that build the management,use and release geographical data sharing platform.
