Abstract: It is thought that the control of the continental strata is Tectonics, however,what are the functions of water level and quantity and sediment supply under tectonic background? Some ideas on the controls of the continental strata are from the modelling of the forming of Shahai fm.and Fuxin fm.in Fuxin basin using the Schlische's quantitative filling model for continental extensional basin.The development of continental sequences and sedimentary environment changes are controlled or influenced by the tectonic subsidence and space of accommodation,sedimentary supply and accumulation rate,water supply and climate and sedimentation process.
