Abstract: Having investigated the detailed organic petrologjcal characteristics of sapropelic coals and its associatel organic rocks in 12 coal fields of China, the authors realized the differences between hamic coals and sapropelic coals.On the basis of macerals composition of the sapropelic coals in the country, seven microlithotypes are recognifed, which represent spetial depositional environments and biogenesis import. These types are reltively stable in geological distribution, and can be used to describe sapropelic coals in macroscopy.
